Insights from Elle on their lovey inspiration: Most of us in the wedding industry decided to have our careers revolve around “I do’s” and “walks down the aisle” did so for one common reason: Love. Whether their own ooey-gooey love story served as inspiration for the desire to be around weddings (what happened to me!) or they love capturing two people holding hands and devoting their lives to each other, “love” is a contagious thing. All this said, it is no surprise that Valentine’s Day is one of the most favorite days of the year in the wedding industry! Lauren Werkheiser of Lauren Werkheiser Photography agrees, so we decided to build a beautiful shoot around the romantic holiday. We asked true head-over-heels-in-love couple, Chelsea & Heath to dress up for our Engagement inspired, Valentine’s Day shoot. Whitehall in Annapolis, Maryland is a historic wedding venue built in 1764 as Governor Horatio Sharpe’s entertaining home on 100 acres of waterfront views. Complete with a picturesque, Southern Charm & elegance you only see in movies like Gone with the Wind, the main hall is dripping with hand carved mouldings and coral-pink walls; so perfect for a photo shoot based around love! The ambiance of the parties that must have happened in this manor house fill the air, and you are immediately under Whitehall’s spell, the moment you pull in the driveway. Obviously, the perfect venue for our vision. Rather than covering anything of the perfect property, I focused on enhancing the beauty with simple, yet stunning, ideas. I could imagine a time after the manor was built when those double-sided, white staircases to the back of the home were covered in climbing roses and ivy, with that garden-esque image in my head I recreated it and its soft look of romance; perfect for a couple to swirl around within for Valentine’s Day. An organically shaped bouquet of Japanese magnolia blooms fit the shoot well since we were surrounded by magnolia trees on the property. For an adorable take on a typical Valentine’s Day dinner, we had tea, heart-shaped sugar cubes, and petit fours by the water. The photo shoot was a day full of swooning over the gazes & kisses shared between Chelsea & Heath, shades of pinks in a picturesque setting, and romance leaving all of us sticky sweet!
