Jake had been planning his surprise proposal to his girlfriend of five and a half years, Emily, since last June. Jake really wanted to propose by the water and to a restaurant they love going to, Charthouse. We had 55 degree weather for days before, yet on the 16th, the temps dropped to 35. When walking up to Charthouse, Emily noticed the sign said they do not open until 4:30. Emily insisted they go back to the car since she left her jacket in there, thinking they would go right into the restaurant. Jake begged her to walk down the dock once before they did so. Jake make it halfway down the dock when he reached into his back pocket to grab the ring and get on his knee. Shocked, Emily squealed yes, to look behind Jake and see me! Emily runs up to my in excitement and is shaking. We begin freshly engaged portraits as we chat about wedding details and the whole surprise Jake had planned for Emily. Emily was so excited that when we sat on a loading dock, I suggested we take off her heels before she kicked one off. Ironically enough, Emily was holding her shoes then dropped one in the water. We finished off the shoot spinning at the edge of the light filled dock, barefoot and glowing with that freshly engaged look.
